Our Story

We are two friends from Lancashire. Between us we have lost more people than we expected to by this point in our lives, and this came out of that.

Made in Lancashire.

Why we made it

What we kept noticing was how little a headstone can hold. A name, two dates, and if there is room, a line like much loved. That is the whole public record of eighty years.

Meanwhile the photographs sat scattered across phones and lofts, mostly uncaptioned. Nobody had thought to keep a voice. And the people who could have told you who was in the pictures were the people we had lost.

So we built the thing we wanted ourselves: a small plaque that fixes to a memorial, and a page behind it holding everything the stone could not.

What we make

One thing, properly. An 80mm engraved plaque, weatherproof, that fixes to a headstone, bench, urn or picture frame, and a memory page behind it holding photographs, video, voice recordings and stories.

They are sold together, for one price, with no subscription.

The part we care most about

Pages like this usually disappear. A free site closes, or a yearly payment stops, and years of photographs go with it.

So we do it the other way round. You pay once, and the page is included for as long as The Life Behind is trading. There is no renewal fee and nothing further to pay, so no page ever goes offline because a bill went unpaid.

And because we know a promise like that is only as good as what stands behind it, nothing on the page is only ours. You can download everything on it whenever you want, as ordinary photograph and video files on your own computer. If we ever did close, every family would get at least 90 days' notice and a full copy of everything before the page came offline, set out in our terms of service. So what you build is yours regardless.

No adverts, ever. Nothing sits beside your photographs except your photographs.
